Guest critics about the game
Guest critics of SiN were mixed. While PC Zone gave the game 91% and an assessment of "classic", praising him for his original design levels and the plot, the majority of other publications, there were no such rave reviews. Most of the time complained about the long load time (up to minutes) between each level, the death or rapid loading (quickload), even at the most powerful at that time, 500 MHz PC with 128 MB RAM. This naturally caused great dissatisfaction, and spoiled the impression of the game for many players. Were later released patches to eliminate this problem, but lost the compatibility with the preservation of the old versions, forcing players to start the game from the start or use cheats to return to the previous location in the game. Also, the game replete with many errors and bugs: problems with sound, with the final boss fight, which was on the ground and not moving at the end of the first chapter, one of the levels changed at the end of games and other disruptions. Although these errors were corrected with the output of the patch, the overall impression of the game proved corrupted, especially playing a majority of the press, describing the original version. The patch was very large. While fixes are released which is about 5 MB, while for SiN Patch was 31.23 MB.
The likely explanation for the premature release of the game in circulation - is an attempt to catch the Christmas holidays in 1998 and ahead of market entry games like Half-Life. Those misses, along with the expected release of Half-Life, led the SiN has not reached such a great success, as developers had hoped, so the percentage of sales was based on an average level.
